Your new project will be able to use Disney characters and will last about five minutes.

Walt Disney Animation Studio, which is at the Sundance Film Festival showing its first immersive short Cycles, is preparing a new narrative experience that will be directed by Jeff Gipson, the same person who was in charge of the previous work, as published by Cnet. According to shared, last month the company would have authorized this new short of “top secret”, in a move that points to a greater investment by the company for virtual reality.

The success of Cycles is making the studio want to continue exploring the medium:

“What Cycles is demonstrating is that VR is something the studio wants to explore. The fact that they gave the green light to another short film so quickly is proof that while they won’t know exactly what tomorrow will be like for Disney and VR, we will continue to explore,” says Nicholas Russell, one of Cycles ‘ producers and director of Disney’s professional development program.

At the moment there is no information about the new work, although they do point out that the team will be able to use the Disney characters and that it will last between 3 and 5 minutes, which will place it on par with Cycles, which in 3 minutes takes us through various moments of the history of a family.

In this way, the company continues to be involved with VR, since in recent months they also launched a Ralph Breaks the Internet experience for The Void arcades and continued to invest in Jaunt’s new bet, in addition to showing at CES an experience that was used in an Audi electric car and that used the real data of the trip to generate consistent movements in the virtual world, something similar to what Ubisoft showed in December 2017.

As for the arrival of Cycles to home viewers, the company has not indicated whether it will happen, although they are “open to it”.
