U.S. supermarket chain Walmart will begin a nationwide training program, bringing more than 17,000 Oculus Go viewers to its employees, before the end of the year.
The deployment will include 17,000 Oculus Go distributed to Walmart stores for employee training. VR viewers can be used with more than 45 activity-based modules, to train Walmart employees in new technologies, interpersonal skills such as empathy and customer service, and best practices.
Walmart partnered with STRIVR Labs to create these experiences after one of the company’s executives saw the University of Arkansas soccer team train using VR.
A pilot test conducted this summer had 10 stores equipped with a virtual reality training program on how to operate Walmart Pickup towers, which allow you to pick up your orders online directly from the store, through a vending machine-style kiosk.
