Presented in April this year, the browser Firefox Reality for standalone viewers it is now available in Viveport (Vive Focus and those standalone compatible with Vive Wave), Daydream (Lenovo Mirage Solo) and Oculus Store (Oculus Go). Firefox Reality is designed for independent VR and AR viewers, although this first version is only compatible with those already mentioned, and offers an easy way to access 2D and immersive pages (WebVR) from the same virtual environment. All this accompanied by well-known features of a browser, such as control and management of privacy.
“We had to rethink everything, including navigation, text input, environments, search and more. This required years of research and countless conversations with users, content creators, and hardware partners. The result is a browser built for the medium it serves. This makes a big difference, and we think you’ll love all the features and details we’ve created specifically for an MR browser, ” he says Andre Vrignaud, by Mozilla’s Mixed Reality platform.
Built with its new Quantum engine for mobile browsers, it allows voice search and has a feed on the home screen to discover content. Mozilla MR is working with multiple developers to add more games, videos, environments and experiences accessible from this initial location.
The team will listen to feedback from users to continue improving the browser, which is already aware that it lacks features such as bookmarks to save our favorite pages. This and other features (user accounts, 360 videos, etc.) will arrive in the coming months.
