HTC VIVE delivers on the promise of premium wireless VR with the official announcement and pre-purchase of the Vive Wireless Adapter. The adapter frees VR users from being tied to their PC, while maintaining the performance requirements for premium VR on both HTC Vive and Vive Pro.

Upgrade: HTC has confirmed the prices for Europe of the Vive Wireless Adapter and compatibility package for Vive pro, which are 345€ and 75€ respectively.

Pre-purchase begins September 5 for the U.S., Pre-orders will be available on Amazon, Best Buy, Microsoft, NewEgg and Vive.com.

The Vive wireless adapter costs 345€. The base adapter works with both Vive and Vive Pro. Vive Pro owners will need an additional compatibility package which is priced at € 75.

The adapter has a transmission range of 6 meters with a field of view of 150 degrees from the sensor and operates in the interference-free 60 Ghz band using Intel’s WiGig specification, which, combined with DisplayLink’s XR codec, means low latency and high performance with hours of battery life.

The adapter works with an HTC QC 3.0 PowerBank, which can also work to charge our smartphone. The package is sent with a PowerBank, additional ones can be purchased at Vive.com.

To celebrate the launch, all purchases of the Vive Wireless Adapter will include a two-month trial subscription for Viveport, which offers access to nearly 500 titles, including Seeking Dawn.
