Storage and price: these are the only factors to consider when comparing these devices. Both support the same games and functions, and the form factor is also the same, so they work with the same accessories. They are also the same colors. The only difference is the amount of storage space available and the price.
The price jump could be the main deciding factor for users because they don’t give up anything when they opt for the most abundant storage option.

Oculus Quest 2 can be used for gaming and multimedia, but many people will only store games directly on the device. Oculus Quest games vary in size, but even the big ones are small enough to hold several in Quest. For example, in my original Oculus Quest, Robo Recall: Unplugged occupies 2.87 GB, Vader Immortal: Episode I 2.58 GB and SUPERHOT VR uses 5.17 GB.
One thing to keep in mind is that the enhanced games for Oculus Quest 2 and some larger titles are increasing in size. Star Wars: Tales From the Galaxy’s Edge has 5.69 GB and The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners has 12 GB if you install the trial version. These are some of the biggest games available on Oculus Quest, and you can still keep many of them on the headphones without filling the 64GB model, but it’s worth noting that the size of the games is increasing.
Some well-known games are even smaller. Beat Saber only occupied 2.95 GB on my original Oculus Quest when the songs were transferred to me. Multimedia applications are relatively small, although the media it plays can take up space.
Oculus Quest 2 64 GB vs. Oculus Quest 2 256 GB: How much storage do you really need??
If you’re trying to be smart with your money or don’t want to pay for storage you won’t use, it’s vital to analyze how you plan to use Oculus Quest 2 and understand how much space you need.
If you’re an avid gamer and want to download a lot of titles on your Oculus Quest 2, you should opt for the 256GB variant of the headset. Oculus Quest 2 does not have a microSD card slot, so once it is full, you will need to remove games or media to free up space.
If you plan to uninstall games as you get bored or run out of them, you’re probably fine with the 64GB version.
One important thing to note is that games that require Oculus Link, such as Half-Life: Alyx, do not take up extra storage space in Oculus Quest 2. This is a good thing as PCVR games can be huge. Games are stored on any PC you use to power your Oculus Link games, so you’ll need space on your PC. Both the 64GB and 256GB versions of Oculus Quest 2 can run games through Oculus Link, so if you’re looking to connect Oculus Quest 2 to your PC, both will work.

While the games vary in size, they are not large enough to require the 256GB variant of Oculus Quest 2 for most people.
If you’re the type of user who plays a specific set of games at once and then removes them from a device, you probably don’t need to spend the extra money on 192GB of extra storage.
If budget is not a factor for you, or if you want it to be more likely that you can always store your games and media in your VR headset, then you should get the 256GB variant. No feature is lost when you increase the size of your storage, so it’s a one-time investment to get a better device.
As a bonus, Facebook has increased the maximum storage space for Oculus Quest 2 over the original Oculus Quest. Spending $ 100 more on an Oculus Quest 2 allows you to earn many times the storage space of the cheapest variant. Again, you may not need that extra storage, but it’s a good deal.
No matter which headphone storage variant you choose, you will get a great device. Oculus Quest 2 got an excellent score in our review and is based on the already outstanding original Oculus Quest.
