Seismic Games will continue its current developments as the transition to develop augmented reality titles begins.
Nianticcreator of Pokémon GO, has announced the acquisition of the company Seismic Games, although he has not shared the terms of it. The purchased studio, which in the field of virtual reality stands out for its recent title Blade Runner: Revelations for Daydream, is made up of industry veterans from EA/Pandemic and Activision who have worked on games such as Star Wars: Battlefront and Marvel: Strikeforce. They are currently working on projects for Marvel, FoxNext, Sony Television and Alcon Interactive, among others. Seismic will continue its work on current projects as it begins the transition to create new augmented reality experiences, together with its new parent company, that will add depth to the narrative.
“At Niantic, we are committed to our mission of motivating people to exercise, be social and discover new places. We are confident that Seismic Games will help us accomplish that mission, faster and better, ” says Niantic.
Another of the key roles that Seismic will have in this new stage will be to help them promote the development of their augmented reality platform (Real World), which a few weeks ago shared the progress made in the field of occlusion. “We see the addition of Seismic Games as a significant accelerator to realize our vision of an operating system that unites the digital and physical world,” they say. Last year Niantic raised $ 200 million for this purpose, and for the development of its new titles, such as the Harry Potter AR game.
