One of the announcements that some of us expected on this Facebook Connect was the arrival of a Oculus Link Wireless. Something that would allow us to play our library of PC games without the hassle of cable.

The presentation of Infinite Office foreshadowed that Facebook would present his own version of Virtual Desktop.

Remember that through this application users can run games on their PC and enjoy them in the Oculus Quest.

This feature requires a cumbersome (not so much) installation and configuration process through SideQuest that we hoped to avoid with the help of Facebook.

Unfortunately our joy remained in a well when the only thing that was announced is that Oculus Link will soon be out of its beta phase.

Prabhu ParthasarathyQuest 2 Product Manager, said the company was working on a Wireless solution for the Oculus Link, but that it was still they were a long way off.

“To be honest, we still don’t see that technology has matured to be the same as a cable experience. But we’re working it out. When we can make wireless no different than wired, we’ll do it.” – Prabhu Parthasarathy.

When we do, we will have done it, he came to say.

Jokes aside from the work you’re doing Oculus to remove the wires definitely goes from strength to strength. Not so much because of how advanced they have the project but because they now have the Qualcomm XR2 chipset, which supports Wi-Fi 6.

Air Link it could be the original name of the pot to which the John Carmack he has given his blessing.

For now we will have to settle for connecting our Quest 2 wired and play 72 Hz instead of the 90 Hz that allows the viewfinder.

Hopefully we will soon reach that refreshment rate that a few years ago was “the essential minimum” and that suddenly, it became optional.

What do you think of this idea? How much would you pay for this Air Link?
