The air combat game, which will be compatible with PlayStation VR, will arrive later than expected, as the team needs more time to perfect the new installment.

Kazutoki Kono, director of the Ace Combat saga, has announced that Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknow it will not be available at the end of the year, but will arrive sometime next year. “The ACES project team and I have been working hard on the game and are committed to achieving the vision we have set for the game. To achieve that vision, we have decided to move the launch to 2018, ” Kono explains. “We would have loved to launch the game this year as planned, but it would have compromised our goal for the title. We take our work very seriously and that means that we have chosen to dedicate more time and effort to refine and optimize this new chapter of the Ace Combat saga.”

Ace Combat 7 is an air combat game, built with Unreal Engine, which will be available on different platforms, but whose virtual reality support is exclusive to PlayStation VR. The content for the viewer consists of a series of additional missions, so the title will not be entirely playable in virtual reality. Hopefully this new date will help the team add as much content as possible to this mode or even consider giving full support.

In the coming months they will reveal new information and details, starting with the E3 where they will present a new demo that will show one of the missions not compatible with virtual reality.
