The research laboratory, Organic Robotics Lab, in collaboration with Nvidia, are showing at the GTC a pneumatic prototype capable of offering haptic sensations for the hands.

Organic Robotics Lab he is at the GTC showing a prototype of his haptic technology based on pneumatics with a demo of VR Funhousewhich they have created in collaboration with Nvidia. The demo uses Omnipulse, an accessory that is placed on the handle of the controller and allows you to feel sensations such as the recoil of a weapon, the hitting of objects with a hammer or with your hands and the shooting of a water gun.

Omnipulse is built by a series of pneumatic actuators that create a haptic feeling more organic or real than those we usually see based on mechanical vibrations, as RoadToVR has commented that he has been able to test it. The accessory is connected to a tube through which it is supplied with the air that inflates the actuators, currently carrying this task with a compressor that could be replaced by C02 gas.

The sensation of the accessory is to hold a thick plastic, but with a consistency similar to that of our skin. The laboratory has not released launch plans, as for the moment they are researching their development and applications that could go beyond controllers, integrating into gloves and suits, to try to get more real sensations.
