MADRID, 19 Feb. (Portaltic/EP) –

The Oculus family of virtual reality headsets Quest has introduced the new multi-user support feature, which allows up to four different accounts they log in to the same helmet, as well as the App Sharing feature to share content with others.

These novelties, “highly requested” by users, they have begun to deploy this Friday as experimental functions, to test them before their widespread launch, as Oculus, owned by Facebook, has assured in a statement.

The multi-user support it allows owners of an Oculus Quest headset to share it with friends and family, so up to four people can log in to the same headset.

Game progress and achievements will be unique to each account, and the feature also allows maintain your own friends lists, browser history, privacy settings, etc., as well as locking the account with an unlock pattern before lending the helmet to other people.

The administrator account cannot be changed without a factory reset, and only this account can add three additional ones, something that secondary users will not be able to do.

For his part, App Sharing allows users to share the contents, such as applications and video games that they have bought for Oculus, so that up to three more people can access them.

App Sharing can only be used from the same Oculus Quest helmet from the primary owner, but secondary users will not be able to access the content from other devices. The content purchased by the secondary App Sharing accounts is also not shared with the rest.

App Sharing is automatically applied to all new Oculus Quest Store apps starting this Friday, but initially a limited number of existing games will not yet be available through App Sharing unless players purchase their own copy, although Oculus is working to expand it.

Oculus has also specified that users can log in to multiple VR headsets at the same time, but not so use the same account to run the same application on multiple devices simultaneously.
