Teachers and students from all the institutes in Spain can participate in this challenge that consists of creating a project that uses innovative solutions such as virtual and augmented reality, among others.

Telefónica Digital Education it presents the STEM Challenge, an interscholastic competition with the aim of promoting technological skills among young people and the practical application of technology in the classrooms and for students to see firsthand how STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) are useful for our society.

“The world is already digital and technology and our young people are our future, so our goal with Challenge STEM is to contribute to our new generations to become creators of technology, by putting your creativity to the service of others, developing solutions that facilitate or enable a higher quality of life, to achieve greater productivity and competitiveness,” says Carolina Jeux, CEO of Telefónica Digital Education.

The project can be for example a game or an application, but it has to develop innovative solutions such as virtual and augmented reality, among others, and focus on some of these topics: Internet of Things, Digital Education, eHealth, Local Industry or cybersecurity. During the project, each team will be able to count on an online mentoring service to accompany them in their challenge and solve the doubts that arise in the process of creating their technological solution. And in the same way, online seminars on Arduino, Scratch, GSM, AppInventor, 3D printing, virtual reality and more will be available.

The teams have to be formed by a teacher and between 4 and 7 students aged 14 to 18 years, and select a category: Junior (3º ESO), High (4º ESO) or Advance (Baccalaureate and FP). The registration period is open until June 30th.
