The new patent is the continuation of the one previously registered in August, which means that Apple continues to improve its possible virtual reality case for mobile devices.
The new patent, won by Apple and reported by Patently Apple, defines the operation of a HMD capable of housing an electronic device with a screen. The patent is being updated to the previous one from August, adding new functionality to control the possible iPhone with buttons and touch controls located on the surface of the viewfinder. The HMD patented by Apple in the shape of glasses and that requires a device with a screen like a mobile phone, integrates headphones and a front camera to detect the environment, and includes a controller that has a wheel reminiscent of that of an iPod.
This new patent update does not mean that Apple is going to launch such a virtual reality product for its mobiles, but it is a way to protect its work from possible legal issues, and in turn confirms that they are still working on it. Apple has not announced any virtual or augmented reality devices at the moment, but its CEO, Tim Cook, has been showing great interest in the possibilities of augmented reality.
