The Persistence is a new first-person shooter whose release date has not yet been revealed in which we will have to survive a terrible catastrophe.

Firesprite, a Liverpool-based company, has announced a new first-person horror title coming to PlayStation VR. The Persistence it puts us on board a research ship sent to study the collapse of a star. A failed experiment will cause a catastrophe in which a large part of the crew will die and the on-board computer will try to solve it by reconstructing all the deceased, but introducing terrible errors in the process that will produce dangerous mutants. Our character will wake up after a cryo-dream and will have to try to put the ship’s engines back in gear to try to escape from a black hole that we are approaching.

The entire ship is procedurally generated, so every time we are eliminated we will wake up to a mapping with different design, threats and opportunities. Death is part of the mechanics, since as we progress we will be collecting stem cells with which we can improve our character by granting him greater speed, life and stealth ability, characteristics that will help us survive long enough to finish the game. As for weapons, we will have at our disposal the Stem Cell Harvester that launches cells at enemies or the gravity bomb, which causes a small black hole that devours nearby mutants. In addition, there will be more traditional weapons such as a pistol that shoots black energy bullets or items that will give us super strength to use our own hands.

The Persistence will have a mobile application with which you will be able to see the ship’s map, possible threats and nearby objects, allowing other people to help us or make the work more difficult, since they will be able to interact with doors or other elements. The game is controlled by gamepad, and at the moment the release date has not been announced.
