Kirby’s actually peaceful home planet popstar is suddenly haunted by a black hole that pulls him completely into a new, post-apocalyptic world. In this one, the hostile beast pack has kidnapped the lumpy Waddle Dees and hidden them all over the world. Now Kirby has to restore order and save as many of the residents as possible.

Unlike its predecessors, which were still designed as classic 2D platformers, Kirby is now moving through the world in all three dimensions for the first time. In this one, opponents and objects have to be eaten up again, spat out and blown away, which is what it takes. Various skills help in this: sometimes Kirby spits fire or even ice, and gets weapons such as a hammer or a cannon in his hand.

Kirby can take over the shape of large objects, such as cars or metal pipes. This helps not only in fights, but also in the tricky puzzles that need to be solved. And although at first the world does not seem quite as cheerful as in other Kirby games: with abandoned shopping centers, beautiful beaches or colorful fairs, variety is guaranteed.

After Kirby has already found himself in wool form or as a robot, the series reinvents itself once again with “Kirby and the Forgotten Land”. And with success: among game critics, the new part was very well received by the bank.

“Kirby and the Forgotten Land” is available for Nintendo Switch and costs around 60 euros.
