The viewfinder with eye tracking, from the Japanese company FOVE, will have support with SteamVR and OSVR, and it will be necessary to fill out a form to access the beta.

At the beginning of November, the pre-purchase of FOVE 0, the company’s first eye-tracking device, started FOVE, intended for developers, creators and researchers for a price of $599. The device has been being distributed since the first weeks of January, so many developers can already start applying eye tracking for games, applications, interface management, analytics, and much more. The company FOVE has commented that both the SDK and the plugins for the main engines suffered some problems, but all are already corrected and available through its website, including the latest version of the SDK that is launched today January 30.

The beta driver for Steam VR of FOVE 0 will be available this Thursday, February 2 on Steam, but it will be necessary for its download to previously fill out the following form in order to receive a key that same day. According to its creators, the OSVR beta is coming very soon as well. With the FOVE 0 developer kit, now accessible and available to the community, it only remains to wait for content to be created that takes advantage of this technology, not only at the level of experience, but also in performance thanks to the foveated technique.
