HTC confirms that the TPCAST wireless adapter will be available worldwide in the second quarter of 2017, undoubtedly great news for all those who want to put cables aside.

We already told you last year that the company TPCast was developing a device for HTC Vive that allowed us to spend 90 minutes without cables with the Vive. KwikVR did the same last week at CES in Las Vegas for the Rift, although it can also be used on the HTC device. All this without counting on the own development that HTC is doing in collaboration with Intel, and that will bring us a very likely second generation of fully wireless devices, let’s not forget the Santa Cruz prototype that Oculus is also developing, although in this case it is an autonomous device.

As HTC has reported, TPCast will be available in the second quarter of this year, and KwikVR will also be available around that time, so we will have to see which of the two systems finally has less latency, more autonomy and also better price. What is clear is that the wireless helmet is already practically a reality, and above all a very important step forward and that gets us even more fully into our virtual world, especially at room scale. Will you be able to wait for the second generation of HMDs to get a wireless device, or will you buy any of these systems to adapt your Rift or Vive?
