The company formed by veterans of Epic Games, Microsoft and Oculus has achieved a round of financing for the creation of virtual reality games with an e-sports focus.

The financing has been led by Signia Venture Partners, in a move that will allow them to carry out their plans to combine virtual reality with electronic sports (e-sports). Drifter announced its formation in October and counts among its ranks such industry veterans as Ray Davis, Kenneth Scott and Brian Murphy.

Davis was general manager of Unreal Engine 4 and CTO of Microsoft Hololens, while Murphy was a designer and creative director on projects such as Hololens, Xbox One and Kinect. Previously, Scott was leading a team of developers at Oculus, and was a former art director of AAA titles such as Doom 3 and Halo 4. We will have to keep waiting to find out what Drifter is working on, since the company has not taken the opportunity to reveal information about its developments.
