Quite unexpected news arrives and from an even more unexpected source: this is AMD, which claims that there will be a virtual reality headset with a 4K Sharp display this very year.

Roy Taylor, corporate vice president of AMD, has sent this curious tweet in which he refers to a presentation by Leap Motion in which they talk about a 4K resolution screen manufactured by Sharp. In the image accompanying the tweet we see that they mention a density of 806 pixels per inch and the elimination of the screendoor effect.

Recall that we recently already told you about this same Sharp screen, which in principle will be available massively in 2016, although this latest announcement from AMD indicates that Sharp would have an agreement with some manufacturer to launch a viewer before 2016. Everything points to an HMD that has not yet been talked about, since Oculus is married to Samsung and both they and HTC have already confirmed that they will use two screens in their first commercial devices. We also don’t think it’s ImmersiON-VRELIA, since its high-end Pro G1 and BlueSky Pro models will use two 1920×1080 screens, as we see on its website, so we’ll have to keep waiting to see who the mysterious manufacturer is. In any case, it is confirmed that the last months of 2015 are going to be very busy as far as virtual reality is concerned.
