There are several websites that have echoed an interesting rumor, and that is that AMD could launch a dual card designed for virtual reality based on the Fiji chip and whose code name would be “Fiji VR”.
Fiji is the codename of the GPU that AMD is planning to launch this summer. So far we only knew some data about the Fiji XT, better known as R9-390X. But now, as we read in WCCF Tech, there is talk of another graphic called Fiji VR that would have 2 GPUs (it would come out after the Fiji XT) and that, if it continues with the usual AMD nomenclature, it could end up being called R9-395X2. The model of a GPU would be equipped with 4 or 8 GB of HBM memory, would have a power exceeding 8.5 TFLOPs and it is speculated that it would be the most expensive monoGPU card that AMD has released to date. If this is fulfilled, it does not seem any nonsense to think of a four-figure price for the 2-GPU variant that, as its code name indicates, would be a card designed to squeeze virtual reality devices to the maximum using the LiquidVR technology that AMD announced at the last GDC.
