The Lighthouse absolute positioning system developed by Valve works by means of two emitters located on opposite sides of the room, and we have a video that shows its operation in slow motion.

In the video you can see how the light is rotating from bottom to top. The speed of the system has been adjusted so that it operates at one eighth of the usual speed. These laser sensors are the ones used by the HTC Vive prototype shown at GDC 2015, but Dan O’Brien, HTC’s executive director of emerging products, has confirmed that the consumer version that will come out later this year will use an infrared system instead of a laser, so no one should worry about having to install these headlights in their room.
