The owner of Valve is proud of the work they have done together with HTC to create Vive, and is blunt when stating that they have managed to completely eliminate the discomfort and dizziness that other HMDs produce in people.

According to Newell, “zero percent of people get dizzy,” and this is due to the laser absolute positioning system. However, these statements must be taken with tweezers, since Valve’s demos have been made standing up, in a closed room in which users could walk at ease. Another different thing would happen if they put a gamepad in their hands and used it to walk. Even so, it is very meritorious that they have achieved a system that maps our movements so accurately and quickly at a 1:1 scale in the virtual world with respect to the real one, but obviously they have used demos created especially to take advantage of this. When they release Half-Life 3 and we test it with a controller we will see if the results are the same.
