The long-awaited version 0.9 of Arena Commander has already been released. Now in the Star Citizen alpha we can enjoy a new modality: racing, in addition to combat and exploration of the hangar. At the moment the support for DK2 has been left out of this first version of 0.9, so it’s time to keep waiting.
Version 0.9 includes a good handful of new features, some of them highly anticipated, such as the ability to customize the controls (limited at the moment). These are the most important changes:
- New ships to pilot: Origin’s two race ships, the 350R and the M50, are now available for both combat and racing. Until now we could only contemplate them in the hangar, but from today we can feel the adrenaline rush of what, for now, are the fastest ships in the Star Citizen universe.
- New hangars: the RSI team has given more than just a coat of paint and completely remodeled the hangars of Star Citizen. Now they use a system of expandable rooms that, at some point, will be open to the persistent universe. In addition, the long-awaited hangar in the asteroid field, the dream of every space pirate, is now available. Another novelty is that now all hangars can accommodate any type of ship, even the largest. If we have the highest level hangar (asteroids) we can choose the lower hangars if we like them more aesthetically. The active hangar can be selected from our account on the RSI website.
- New game mode– the Murray Cup allows us to conduct races on a new map – New Horizon. We will be able to compete with our friends to see who is the first to cross the finish line.
- New game mode: Vanduul Swarm co-op: Now we can fight the Vanduuls with the help of our friends, who surely do better than the two AI-controlled pilots who help us in single-player mode.
- Scorecards: we can already compete with drivers from all over the world to put our name at the top of the online leaderboards.
If this is a little known to us, improvements have also been added to the flight model with 6 degrees of freedom, new control schemes that we can choose, improvements in the HUD, a new target indicator that will help us aim at moving ships and a considerably improved sound.
