Pac-Man is one of the most iconic characters in the history of video games, so it is already a transmedia property, with appearances in movies, cartoons and merchandise. And now, our new friend will have his own tape.
In a press release, Bandai Namco confirmed that it is working with Wayfarer Studios to develop a live-action movie based on Pac-Man. The feature film will be based on an original idea by Chuck Williams (who worked on the Sonic the Hedgehog movie and Land of Bears) from Lightbeam Entertainment. Justin Baldoni, Manu Gargi, Andrew Calof and Tracy Ryerson will produce on behalf of Wayfarer Studios, while Chuck Williams and Tim Kwok will produce on behalf of Lightbeam.
At the moment there are no more details about the film, such as writer, director, cast or release date. However, we know that it has good support behind it: Wayfarer has just been injected with a $125 MILLION investment to boost its growth. Recently, the studio released Clouds, a tape for Disney Plus.
For its part, Pac-Man does not need further introduction, but it holds the Guinness record as the title of the most successful arcade machine in history.
