After two releases of the Oculus runtime, it seems that the situation is beginning to stabilize and the new demos already work in native mode, with better or worse results. But Oculus VR is still working on improving performance and one of its programmers has announced that they have achieved a huge performance improvement that we will be able to enjoy soon.

Chris Taylor confirms it in this tweet, but he leaves us all with the suspense, since he doesn’t want to spoil the surprise for us. It may be a performance improvement (less loss of frames per second when switching to Oculus Rift mode), it may be latency, it may be the Timewarp, which does not finish walking fine… the fact is that little by little things are going to get closer to the point where we all want to meet. Above all, we want to check if in highly complex experiences such as Elite Dangerous the loss of performance that the game currently suffers can be mitigated by using the DK2, although beta 1.03, which is the current one, still uses the old SDK 0.3.
