Quake 1 also migrates to the Oculus Rift DK2

A few days after its successor, the turn has come to the original Quake, a legend that meant the leap to truly 3D scenarios after the pseudo 3D of Doom, Heretic, Hexen and other projects that worked with that engine. The Quakespasm port, the same one used a year ago for the DK1, can now be played with absolute positioning and low persistence.

This first version of Quakespasm for DK2 requires some small adjustments, since it starts on the main monitor, so we will have to configure the DK2 as an extended desktop but set it as the main screen in the Windows resolution options. The first time we load it we will also have to activate the mouse look mode, or else our character will advance by moving the mouse. It is also advisable to use a laser-style crosshair, or make the point you use by default larger. In the specific virtual reality menu we will have options to choose the type of Oculus Rift (DK1 or DK2), if we want to use low persistence and the rest of the options. We have tested it for a few minutes and it works quite well, including absolute positioning, but as with Quake II, it is advisable not to activate the always run mode if we tend to get dizzy. We leave you with this video of The Rift Arcade in which they show it to us in action.
