Facebook Gaming is one of the most popular video game streaming platforms: every day, thousands of users stream or view content. And although there is a dedicated app, most people stream or watch from the main application of the social network, so that app seems unnecessary. Therefore, it will disappear.
Matt Navarra, consultant and analyst of the technology industry, shared a screenshot of a statement sent by Meta that details that the official Facebook Gaming application will be discontinued this October 28, both on iOS and Android. The Facebook Gaming app will no longer work and people will have to use Facebook Gaming via web or the main Facebook app.

“We want to extend our sincerest thanks to all of you for everything you have done to build a thriving community for gamers and fans since the app was first released,” Facebook’s notice to users reads. “This was really a community-led effort to bring new gaming features to Facebook.”
This is not the first time something like this has happened. Despite the fact that YouTube also focuses on gaming, in 2019 it also withdrew its dedicated application, claiming that it caused confusion among its users (why have 2 apps?). Today, all video game content is unified within the overall YouTube experience, and apparently Facebook plans to do the same after this announcement.
