Crytek’s problems do not affect Star Citizen

Last week, rumors about possible financial problems at Crytek were all over the network, and it is that since the beginning of HomeFront Revolution, about 30 workers have left the company along with Karl Hilton, co-founder of Crytek and director of the UK division. It seems that many of the former Crytek workers are now part of the Cloud Imperium Games team, and Chris Roberts’ brother Erin claims that the future of Star Citizen will not be affected no matter what happens at Crytek.

Last year we made a total purchase of the engine and we have the source code, so although we hope that all the rumors about Crytek end as soon as possible, since they are great collaborators and friends of our project, if the worst were to happen we would be fine, since we have a branch of the engine and we have a great team adding new features every day in CIG. Therefore, in the worst case we would be perfectly fine, although of course we hope that this situation will not occur.

With this message, Cloud Imperium Games aims to reassure fans of this mammoth project, the most ambitious carried out to date through crowdfunding. And if anyone is wondering what situation they are in in terms of delivery times, the latest news we have is that during the next few months new versions of Arena Commander will arrive that will allow piloting the largest ships and all variants, while the Squadron 42 single-player campaign will be released by episodes throughout 2015. At the end of that year the beta of the persistent universe will arrive, and it will be in 2016 when it will be launched for the general public. Although of course, all this is subject to change.
