Someone has already replicated the Dynamic Island of the iPhone 14 in a theme for Xiaomi

Undoubtedly, one of the most interesting announcements of Apple’s Far Out event a few days ago was the revelation of Dynamic Island, a context menu that helps hide the hole represented by the camera embedded in the screen. And it took less than a week for Android developers to copy the feature.

You see, on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, the perforation on the screen for the camera represents a regro oval, which takes up quite a lot of space at the top. To prevent this from being totally wasted space, Apple came up with a plan: it created Dynamic Island, a small dynamic context menu, always present, that allows the user to perform various tasks with a single touch, depending on what he is doing at that moment.

This seemed to be one of the most interesting new Apple badges of the new iPhones, but it was discovered that someone has already created something very similar on Android. Youtuber Vaibhav Jain found a short video of a theme for Xiaomi’s MIUI personalization layer, which has a function dangerously similar to Apple’s Dynamic Island. Judge for yourself:

The theme, called Grumpy UI, was created by a Chinese user, so it is only available in that language, at least for the moment. In fact, not even Asian users can download it yet, because it is still in the review process to be released to the public.

It must be considered that due to the location of the cameras on some Xiaomi smartphones, this small contextual island does not work in the same way as on iPhone, because it does not focus on covering the perforation itself, but on offering quick controls. And yet, there are tons of applications on the Google Play that offer floating and contextual menus much more useful and dynamic than the Dynamic Island itself. However, anyway, it’s interesting to see the creativity and speed that people have to recreate something so fast on a totally different operating system.
