According to information from The New York Post, Musk angered neighbors in the city of San Francisco by installing the structure without permission, which cost the real estate investment company that owns the building almost $4,500 USD, which the millionaire will eventually have to pay. The City of San Francisco demanded that the X be dismantled and issued subpoenas to the society, Shorenstein. The fees include $761 USD for a building permit to remove the sign, $1,580 USD for Planning Department compliance fees and $2,106 for Building Inspection Department compliance fees. In addition, the cost of removing the sign was $3,500 USD.
For days, neighbors complained publicly on social networks and at the city hall, claiming that the gigantic sign, which emitted lights all the time, was annoying, blinding and did not let sleep. Thus, Musk’s tactic upset both the people and the county.
It should be remembered that Shorestein had already sued Elon Musk for not paying almost $6.8 MILLION in rent. Meanwhile, lawyers for X, the company formerly known as Twitter, have filed court documents claiming that the company is up to date on its payments. In any case, it is clear that the relationship between Musk and the owners of the property is not the best, so it is very likely that they will charge him those fines.
