The market for DevSecOps solutions is growing and becoming increasingly confusing. Market researchers at ISG believe that companies in this area are increasingly dependent on the support of IT service providers and external consultants.

Automation plays an important role in the development, deployment and maintenance of applications. According to the Information Services Group (ISG), the submarket for DevSecOps solutions and services is currently experiencing particularly high growth rates. The offer had become correspondingly confusing.
The “ISG Provider Lens Next-gen Application Development & amp; Maintenance (ADM) Services Report Germany 2020” examines the market in more detail. “All major providers have invested heavily in their own AI and ML technology,” says Heiko Henkes, Director & Principal Analyst at ISG. “Some also offer their solutions in as-a-service mode to smaller providers and customers.“
“DevSecOps is increasingly merging with automation and continuous software testing to form an integrated software creation process,” Henkes says. However, the complexity of the systems and tasks all too often collides with high customer expectations: “True self-healing software and AI-driven improvements to business processes are still a dream of the future.“
In the DevSecOps market, the ISG study reports a wealth of tools, practices, and models in which companies increasingly need support. “Whether containers, low- / no-code, blockchain or AI – the tools and platforms available on the market today can hardly be overlooked by a company itself, which is why they turn to consultants specialized in DevSecOps,” says ISG analyst Henkes. However, since a DevSecOps strategy also requires cultural changes in the company, IT service providers should also be able to shape the cultural change.

The study evaluates the performance of 34 providers in six ADM market segments divided into quadrants. In the sub-market “DevSecOps Consulting”, ISG examined a total of 20 providers, five of which were able to position themselves as “leaders” and two as “Rising stars”. Other analyzed areas are “Next-gen ADM”, “Application Maintenance Services Midmarket/Niche”, “Agile Development, Continuous Testing Large Accounts” and “Continuous Testing – Midmarket & Expert Consulting”.
