HTC could soon show a new version of Vive with ergonomic improvements, although in principle it would be based on the Business Edition and would be aimed at arcades.
Rikard Steiber, SVP of the virtual reality section of HTC, has spoken to TechCrunch to tell them about the company’s plans for the arcades. The new Vive would have an improved design and would not come alone, since it would be accompanied by peripherals adapted to the different experiences, which could be devices such as steering wheels or weapons, among others. At the moment they will be able to enjoy these games in China and Taiwan, and it is not known if this improved version of the Vive will reach the consumer market, so we will have to wait a few weeks to get out of doubts. It could be at the CES in Las Vegas (January 2017) when this new version is presented. Recall that Valve showed new motion controllers less than a month ago, so it doesn’t seem far-fetched to think that a facelift in the SteamVR hardware could be coming, since it is precisely ergonomics that is the least strong point of the Vive and its controls.
