Nowadays we take smartphones for granted, because by now it is already very rare to find a phone or device that is not smart. However, it must be remembered that the revolution began relatively recently, in 2007, with the first Apple iPhone. And recently, a sealed unit was auctioned off at more than $35,000 USD.
A few days ago, a legendary item for any technological collector appeared on the RR Auctions site – a sealed unit from one of the first iPhones, Model A1203, order MA712LL/A (8GB). The product was auctioned for $35,414 USD, a high price but that many would consider fair for the father of Moderna smartphones.
In the image it can be seen that this iPhone is not only first generation, but also one of the first to be produced. You will see, the design of the device appears on the box, which has only 12 icons. There are no traces of the iTunes Store, which was launched after the release of the smartphone. That means that this item is one of the first lots in stock, because when the store was launched a few months later, the product box was redesigned to include the new icon.
The condition of the equipment is not mentioned in the file, although from the photographs and considering that it is a sealed unit, it is seen that it is in perfect condition. Now the big question is whether the collector really plans to use the mythical iPhone or will only use it to demonstrate it.
