A third of companies fail at innovation stage razrabatyvaetsya Alexandrov | 15.10.2020
“Kaspersky lab” examined the issue of innovation in large companies, and interviewed the heads of the relevant units around the world. As their experience shows, if the product fails
in the vast majority of cases (95%) this happens before its market launch, one in three (36%) is in the development stage.
Sometimes the technological innovations that have appeared in the sale, not “fly” contrary to expectations, as it happened with the Nintendo Virtual Boy and a fitness tracker Nike FuelBand. But still
often, if an innovative product is a failure, this occurs well before the stage of entering the market. The most critical is the development phase: it is eliminated from the race every
a third project.
The main reason for such failures, according to 19% of respondents, is the lack of a clear plan of action and structured approach. Brilliant ideas are not enough. To make it into a profitable
and popular technology, it is necessary to consistently implement it, and this should not only make a plan of action, but also regularly review it, to check
with the activity of competitors, market trends and what is happening in the industry.
With regard to the role of chief information security in the innovation process, then, according to 74% of interview participants, if it is not included in the discussion at an early stage,
the probability of failure increases. This is because often innovative products, it is impossible to adapt a strict policy of protecting information. A significant part of respondents (54%) believes
these policies are a limiting factor in the implementation of breakthrough technologies.
“Business innovation risks. Companies need to be prepared for the setbacks in this process, because they are inevitable when dealing with something new. The good news
is that there are certain algorithms that help to estimate the probability of product launch. Cybersecurity should not become another corporate barrier
innovation, but at the same time not ignore its requirements is impossible. We recommend companies to connect Director for information security at an early stage of this process,”
says Alexander Moiseev, the Director of business development, “Kaspersky Lab”.
The study of problems of introduction of innovative technologies in large companies conducted in the summer of 2020 research Agency Savanta especially for the “Kaspersky Lab”. In the survey
took part 304 the Manager responsible for innovation within organizations and working in Europe, the Asia-Pacific region, the middle East, North and Latin America, CIS.
