Sersheim/Göttingen Anyone who discovers such attacks or is exposed to them themselves should report corresponding postings or comments immediately. This is possible, for example, at the Respect reporting office, which is supported by the Jugendstiftung Baden-Württemberg but operates nationwide, to which the Federal Criminal Police Office also refers.
First delete, then display
Directly on the home page, Internet users can describe the case. You must also provide the address of the website in question and your own e-mail address. Screenshots documenting the hate speech can also be uploaded.
The Respect team checks the report and, in the event of a legal violation, requests the deletion of the contribution from the respective operator of the page or network. The author is also indicated according to the information, especially in the case of sedition.
Contact the public prosecutor’s office
The Lower Saxony Central Office for Combating Hate Crime on the Internet has also taken up the fight against hate crime on the Internet nationwide. Also on this page, which is supported by the Göttingen Public Prosecutor’s Office, you can easily report postings or comments that contain hatred and incitement via an online form.
Important: Victims who also provide their contact details here allow law enforcement to obtain a criminal complaint from them if necessary. In the case of so-called application offences – these include, for example, insult, defamation or slander – the law enforcement authorities cannot otherwise take action.
