IDC conducted a survey among global organizations using AI, and found that only a quarter of them have developed a strategy across the enterprise.
The study included 2473 companies from various industries in North America, EMEA, APEJ and Japan.
The main direction of AI initiatives were identified increased productivity, business agility and customer satisfaction via automation. Also another reason for the implementation was
accelerate time to market with new products and services.
In contrast, according to the survey results, the limiting factors were the cost of AI solutions, the shortage of qualified personnel and systematic errors in the data. In half of the cases
the failure of AI projects is the lack of skills and unrealistic expectations.
Despite these results, the positive moments too. For example, 60% of firms reported positive changes to their business models thanks to the introduction of artificial
intelligence. 50% stated that these successes inspired them to create a formalized structure for potential risks and promoting ethical use of AI, and about 25% have created
positions for their regulation.
“For many organizations, the rapid growth of digital transformation advanced AI on the main corporate agenda. However, they need to have an effective strategy AI corresponding to
business goals and models to thrive in the digital age,” said Vice-President of the IDC on artificial intelligence Ritu Jyoti.
Many people say that the introduction of artificial intelligence in enterprises is inevitable. In a recent Gartner report, published in January, it was reported that over the past four
year use of AI increased by 270% and the number of new projects launched in the last 12 months has tripled. It was also assumed that by 2022 “the market for AI companies”
will cost $6,14 billion.
Edelman Holdings said: 90% of managers C-suite believe that artificial intelligence will be the “next technological revolution”. The company refers to such examples of usage, as
smart homes and cars with the autopilot.
