Donations in kind: App coordinates aid for Ukraine refugees
The website and the app are divided into two areas: A map on which the requests appear (l). And a form in which you can enter requests for donations in kind for refugees after registration (r). Photo: WasWohin/dpa-tmn

The use is very simple: each flag on the map stands for a place in Germany where concrete things are currently needed: such as toothpaste, hairbrushes, diapers, hangers or bathrobes. The lists are as long as they are different. If you do not see any applications in your locality yet, you should be patient: “Waswhin” is only a few days old.
Everything that helps on a map
However, the map can not only be viewed on the website of the project, which was created by Munich developers on a voluntary basis. There are also apps for Android and iOS.
Here, the creators have the following ideal case in mind: People willing to help look in front of or during shopping, what is needed nearby, and give the donations right on the way back from the supermarket.

Anyone who helps can be helped
On the “recipient side”, the app is not only aimed at organizations, but also at private individuals who have accepted refugees. At “WasWohin”, you can all set up what is needed on a daily basis after you have created a user account.
According to the information, the creators finance the project out of their own pocket. They promise that the data will only be used for “WasWohin” and that the application will remain free of charge and free of trackers and advertising in the future.
