Cupertino An hour-long outage of important online services caused Apple customers to worry on Monday. Among other things, the App Store, the streaming services Apple Music and Apple TV+, as well as the podcast platform and the iTunes Store were not reachable for downloads of various content, as the system status page of the iPhone concern showed. The problem was only resolved more than two hours after the first user reports.
At first, there was no official information about possible causes. According to information from the financial service Bloomberg, Apple explained the malfunction internally with DNS problems. The DNS (Domain Name System) systems ensure that computers are connected to web addresses. Errors in DNS configuration are often the cause of errors.
According to Bloomberg, internal systems at Apple were also disrupted, so that employees of the group were sometimes unable to work. At times, Apple’s e-mail service, the map service and the iMessage chat service did not work for users, among other things.
