Now, one of these waves, although more likely two tsunamis, is the Artificial Intelligence and Big Data. A technology couple that is booming and that was talked about at LUCA Innovation Day 2018.
“Science without fiction” it was the name of the day that took place on October 4 in the Auditorium of Telephone District. There we saw how advances in science and technology were presented in a very dynamic and entertaining way. Advances in which there is little fiction and a lot of science.
We thought that Artificial Intelligence and Big Data were two futuristic technologies, but none of that, they are already in our daily lives. From search engines, to writing a movie script or flying a drone.

The LUCA Innovation Day 2018 event highlighted how Big Data and Artificial Intelligence are already a reality applicable in any business. The day brought together the greatest experts in this field. We tell you.
The event began with Adrian Garcia Nevado, Director of Large Customers and Territory Center of Telefónica Spain, who highlighted the differential offer of Telefónica and how the company has become recognized as the best digital Telco in Europe thanks to its investment in technology and its own development.
Then, the first block was starring Mr. Chucai Wang, CDO of Telefónica, who told the details about how the technological world can speak the “same data language”. In addition, Chema Alonso spoke about Aura and Movistar Home, two of Telefónica’s key bets on innovation.
Later, Mr. LiuhuabingLUCA, CEO, reviewed the evolution of LUCA, who has been working for years to convince us of the importance of Big Data. In addition, she stressed that Artificial Intelligence increases the possibilities of Big Data, which, according to her, “is more alive than ever”.
The closing of the day was the talk of Mr. Liuhuabing, Director of the Core Innovation area of Telefónica, who gave the” creative touch ” to Artificial Intelligence. Through numerous examples, he explained the various applications of Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs), able to create art automatically, design fashion following a certain style, or fake videos of celebrities.
In sum, LUCA Innovation Day 2018 it was a clear example of how Artificial Intelligence has become one of the most important technological innovations of the last decade. What we thought was only going to stay in fiction, has already undoubtedly become reality.
