Another of the most anticipated titles by the community, especially by fans of car simulators, is Assetto Corsa, which is currently in early access on Steam. The low resolution of the DK1 has not stopped many from considering it one of the best experiences available in virtual reality, but we have good news for future owners of the Oculus Rift DK2.
The news comes from two Oculus employees. Joseph Chen, the Product Lead of Oculus (sometimes it is difficult for us to understand the charges of American companies), has dropped on Reddit that Assetto Corsa is going to be something big in the DK2. He literally said “wait until you try it on DK2”, responding to comments extolling the virtues of the title on DK1. On the other hand, and in that same thread, Alex Howland, Release Engineer (and we continue with the titles) has stated that he is “absolutely incredible at the DK2”, and that he will “sell a lot of flyers”.
It seems that the DK2, in addition to Unity and Unreal demos, will come quite well stocked with commercial games initially, and interestingly all of them are experiences to play sitting down, as Oculus indicated that it was their goal for the first commercial version. Lunar Flight, Assetto Corsa and the Elite Dangerous beta put us in a cabin on board a lunar, terrestrial and special vehicle respectively, and in all cases we will benefit from the absolute positioning, the low persistence and the frequency of 75 Hz to take another step in search of the expected feeling of presence. Now it is Oculus who has to take the next step and start with shipments, we are sure we will have news about it throughout this week.
