After the launch of its premises with well-known game sagas, the company will promote the development of technologies for its centers with a new division.
Bandai Namco has announced the creation of Bandai Namco Amusement Laboratories, a new team located in its Tokyo offices that will be focused on the creation of extended reality technologies for use in theme parks and recreational venues. This type of technology will cover both virtual and augmented reality.
The objective of the new division will be to investigate and plan the development of these technologies for arcades, which usually offer a different experience than what we can experience at home, either by the addition of accessories that elevate the immersion or by the exclusivity of the contents.
Among the different locations that the company has open so far, we find the VR Zone center in Japan and the VR Zone Portals that arrived in the United Kingdom at the beginning of the year. These locations currently offer all kinds of experiences of well-known IPs, such as Mario Kart and Dragon Ball. In addition, the company in the domestic field has also been involved with the release of titles such as Project CARS 2 or the next installment of Ace Combat for PSVR.
The new division will be officially implemented on 1 October.
