The major search engine Yahoo has announced several events for Hong Kong on the topics of Metaverse and non-Fungible Tokens (NFT), after Meta Platforms (formerly Facebook) presented its own Metaverse plans for the region a day earlier.
As the American search engine Yahoo has now announced, several virtual events, including concerts, will soon be organized for users in Hong Kong in Decentraland’s Metaverse.
Lorraine Cheung, the director of public relations at Yahoo Hong Kong, explains in this context that the search engine sees the metaverse as an attractive alternative for the population of Hong Kong to social interaction. The background is that corona protection measures in the form of a new lockdown came into force again in the country on June 9, so the 2G rule applies again to a large part of the public.
“We hope that the metaverse will be able to connect people regardless of time and space.“
In addition, Yahoo will also host a virtual NFT exhibition called The Abyss of Kwun Tong, where regional artists will be able to present digital crypto art about the historic Kwun Tong district.
