By the end of 2011 the cost of a standard external LTE modem (card) will be about $50 apiece.
It will happen because today the developers of chips and chipsets Qualcomm and ST-Ericsson is actively engaged in the design and improvement of the properties of the chips, and collectors such as ZTE and Huawei
Technologies direct all of its efforts on minimizing production costs in this segment.
According to Alcatel-Lucent APAC, the cost of external single-mode LTE card will drop from the original $1000 up to $150 by the end of this year. And the price of multimode second generation
will drop to $50 by the end of 2011.
