The test will focus on ensuring that the electric trucks meet CRH’s safety, performance, operational and compliance requirements. CRH has mentioned that it has a goal to eliminate greenhouse gas emissions in its operations by 2050, so starting to use electric charging vehicles would be the first step. CRH’s business is valued at more than $20 million.
Scott Parson, president of CRH, mentioned that the collaboration with Caterpillar “is crucial to achieve the industry-leading decarbonization goals and achieve carbon neutrality.” For their part, Caterpillar executives also expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, recognizing that the materials distribution industry also “demands diverse solutions for sustainability.”
