The Dexmo exoskeleton Kickstarter campaign has lasted exactly one week, since Dexta Robotics has decided to cancel it. It didn’t seem like they were going to get it since they reached the fourth part of the goal after a few hours, but they had been stuck at that figure and have decided to wait until they have something better to show us before relaunching it.
The new generation of Dexmo will include improvements in latency (one of the most criticized points of the current one) and demonstrations using Perception Neuron and Sixense STEM, and the most interesting thing is that they leave the door open to variable force feedback support, since the current prototypes allowed us to feel a rigid object by locking the fingers, but they imply that the new version will allow us to feel how soft the objects are.
It seems that we will have to wait a while before we hear from Dexmo again, so we wish Dexta Robotics all the luck in the world and that they manage to show us an even more interesting product when the time comes.
