In this way, the new company will focus its efforts on the field of virtual and augmented reality content.
Digital Domain, special effects studio founded by James Cameron, announces the formation of Iconic Engine, a new partner company that will focus on the virtual and augmented reality content market. Amit Chopra of Digital Domain will be in charge of the new company, which will also be joined by other key members specializing in VR and AR.
“It’s an exciting time to launch Iconic Engine, as the demand for impactful content along with RX solutions is intensifying globally. Now is the time to double our efforts to develop technology for RX,” says Chopra. “We are grateful for the support of our partners and are already working on a wide range of projects that are perfectly suited to our areas of expertise.”
First of all, they will offer their immersive services to cable operators and telecommunications companies, which will have streaming technology, 360º event retransmission, video on demand and interactive content development. The next step will be to turn your attention to other types of companies, such as those that base their bet on entertainment venues.
“Digital Domain is committed to pushing the boundaries of what is possible in visual effects and virtual humans. Iconic Engine will reorient the energy towards a new RX business model that we believe in, while enabling Digital Domain to focus on our core business of world-class visual effects, post-production and animation,” says Daniel Seah, CEO of Digital Domain.
Digital Domain continues its commitment to virtual reality, since they previously acquired the manufacturer of 3Glasses viewers and announced the creation of DD Space, a series of VR cinemas for China.
