The community has been working on porting Doom 3 to DK2 for some time, which is taking much more time than it took to prepare it for DK1. But now we bring you a video of a great integration with Razer Hydra similar to the Half-Life 2 mod, in addition to having another simpler one to play now.
As you can see in the video, the flashlight is operated with the left Hydra and the weapon with the right, having absolute positioning in both hands in a similar way to the Half-Life 2 VR mod. Its author claims that it will also be playable without the Hydra, although this mode is the most real. He also says that we will still have to keep waiting longer for the launch, without concretizing it further.
However, there is another mod that can already be downloaded, for the most impatient. It has some important shortcomings, such as chromatic aberration, dynamic prediction and brightness overfeeding, detail the latter very important to fight black bleeding in such a dark game, but at least the absolute positioning and low persistence are implemented, not like the previous version we talked about in September. This port is based on the original of the DK1 and it can help us to calm our impatience while the one you have seen in the video is finished, which will be much more advanced, and not only because of the support for Razer Hydra. After more than 10 years, it seems that Doom 3 has some rope left for a while.
