Having an electric car always presents the problem that if you neglect yourself you can run out of battery at an inopportune moment. In that sense, a very creative person created his own solution – a solar panel roof.
A solar roof for the Tesla
This week, we learned about a Tesla Model Y owner who decided to make a roof based on solar panels to place it on his car. This invention can add more than 30 km of autonomy per day to the vehicle.
The owner, u/somid3 on Reddit, explained in a post the construction process. Basically, he created a stand that fits on the roof of the Tesla Model Y and can deploy 9 175-watt solar panels to charge the car during the day.
Obviously the goal of this experiment is not to allow you to use the car for much longer in the city, but to allow you to drive in nature without depending on the electricity grid.

In 2017, Elon Musk mentioned that he wanted to integrate solar cells into the Model 3, but engineers concluded that it was not worth it. Years later, the tycoon also announced that the Cybertruck would have a solar roof option that would add 25 km of daily autonomy, but it has not been achieved so far either.
