E-commerce has more or less existed ever since the birth of the internet, and over the years it has been a bit of a struggle. In the early years there were a lot of risky e-commerce websites that tried to cheat consumers, but as the internet has developed and improved, e-commerce has done the same.
Today there are endless websites which deal with e-commerce and it can be difficult to find the best one. If you as a consumer would like to buy a computer mouse, then a search will give you a result on several thousand different website where you can buy computer mouse. But how can it really be that so many e-commerce websites can exist simultaneously?
Competition
E-commerce is an open market, anyone with internet and a computer can create a website that trades various products, and there are also a lot of people who have done that over the years. This means that all websites compete with each other externally, and they therefore have to make their website unique from the alternatives, as they otherwise quickly go and die out in the free competition market.
Niche trading
In order to survive the tough competition, many websites had previously focused on being the cheapest. But this is not necessarily enough today, as design, user-friendliness and product selection weigh at least as much. If you look at a company like nordtrend, which started as a very small company, but today it is one of the larger ones. Then it is clear that one of the reasons for nordtrend’s great success is due to the product selection.
At nordtrend they have carefully selected their product range, you can quickly find a product that you actually did not really know you needed. And that is absolutely positive. Nordtrend has a lot of products that you will not find on other e-commerce websites. It is perhaps a bit in the name trend, that is, nordtrend tries to keep up to date with the Nordic trends, and this is undoubtedly reflected in their products.
The customer is always right
Over the years, e-commerce companies have realised that customer feedback is incredibly important to survive the competitive market. If your colleague tells about a website they have been shopping on and that the delivery time was incredibly slow, then you will be reluctant to shop on that website. Of course, this also applies vice versa, if your colleague has had an excellent experience with the deal, then you are more likely to use the same website.
It has also resulted in the creation of websites that exclusively provide feedback from users to businesses. This type of Website is absolutely essential for users to share their experiences, and companies do not suppress and censor negative feedback.
One can only respect companies that take customer feedback to heart and actually listen and make room for improvement. Bl.a. for example, nordtrend is well known for listening to both negative and positive feedback, and then adjusting in those areas where improvements are needed. If you are a customer, you should also remember that there can always be mistakes, and it is not always the company’s fault. If there is a delivery problem, then it can easily blame the delivery company, and then the company must of course consider future cooperation with the delivery company.
