Vantage Head Tracker from Eonite is a software capable of offering absolute positioning with good performance, and using a depth sensor or camera in the viewfinder for this.
The company Eonite, dedicated to developing solutions to achieve inside-out positioning, has announced that its multiplatform software Eonite Vantage Head Tracker is now available that allows achieving absolute positioning with submillimeter precision, low latency (less than 15ms motion to photon) and without requiring external elements, although we will need a sensor or camera capable of detecting the depth that will be placed in the HMD. To perform the positioning calculations, only the power of a GPU such as those usually brought by tablets is necessary, which makes it a cheap solution applicable to any virtual or augmented reality device with or without cables.

“Using Eonite virtual reality can be more affordable, easier to set up and more immersive for users. Our six degrees of freedom (6DOF) software is leading the industry in five key areas of commercialization: accuracy, latency, robustness, energy savings and price. Eonite Vantage Head Tracker will be a requirement and a solution for VR and AR headsets to operate accurately in the real world,” said Youssri Helmy, CEO and founder of Eonite.
The software supports real-time static and dynamic obstacle detection, multi-room mapping and tracking, variety of light conditions, merging with depth and inertial sensors, PC viewfinders, and very soon it will be available for mobiles and other devices. There is an SDK and a Unity plugin available that only some companies will be able to access.
