Virtual reality is causing spaceship games to live a second youth, with more or less complex titles and others, such as Eridanus Wars, that aim to be more accessible to everyone.
Eridanus Wars is a title in the style of EVE: Valkyrie and Darkfield VR, that is, a game that offers fast multiplayer games full of action in huge space battles in which we can attack enemy stations, motherships and fighters. The novelty of Eridanus Wars is the possibility of sharing the cockpit of our ship with a friend, with which one will be in charge of piloting and handling the primary weapons and the other of the turret. In addition, the head tracking information is sent by network, with which we can make gestures such as nod or deny and our partner will see them reflected in our personal avatar.
Players will have to choose a faction (Eridan or the Federation) and fight to control each and every sector of the Eridan star cluster. Each sector will have a facility with resources, such as a factory, a mine or agricultural station, and a space station run by the faction that governs it, which will provide resources to that faction. When a certain amount of money is reached, your military will launch a gigantic combat mothership with turrets and hangars towards one of the solar systems, and you will have to defend it if it is your own system or attack it if it is an enemy system. Players will fight to take control of the various sectors by capturing the space station, disrupting enemy supply lines or defending their own territory. Players will get credits for helping their faction, which they can use for upgrades, missiles or larger ships (with more seats for more players).
The campaign concludes on March 7 and aims to raise £6,000. For £8 we will get it by participating in the beta (available in October) and for £12 we will also have access to the alphas (from May). We can also download a technological demo now to take a look at the atmosphere that the game will have. If we like it, another way to support the game is by voting for it on Steam Greenlight.
